The Democratic Tea Party is here

Change is coming in the democratic party. No longer will we accept meager politicians who have no fight, who fold to Trump and his fascist agenda at any chance. We will no longer accept politicians who care not about making our lives better, but only about voting how their wealthy donors want them to. No longer will we stand for wars being fought with our taxes. We must fight for a politics that is for and of the people, a progressive politics with Medicare for all, taxes for the rich, ending American wars in the Middle East, and so so much more. To quote the man whose campaign started this movement’s current iteration, Zohran Mamdani: “Our time is now.”

The democratic party is changing, left-flank candidates are winning, in districts both deep blue and light blue, even purple. Left-flank candidates have momentum; we are winning across the nation.

From Graham Platner in maine essentially having won his primary, to the aforementioned Mayor Mamdani—Who ran against another dem in the general, no less— or to Analija Mejia, who won in a traditionally not progressively inclined district. Progressives are winning across the country, because the american people are tired of the politics of the past, they are tired of this political system fighting for the billionares while they struggle. We are tired. We are fed up. And it’s time for a fight.

This is not the first time democratic voters have fought for change. This happened in 2018, and Justice Democrats and other groups did the work to ensure progressives got into Congress, but this time will be different, because this time we don’t have to build the infrastructure; we already have it. Which means we can truly bring a fight, a fight against fascism, and a fight for something better.

To bring that fight, we need fighters, what follows is a list of progressive and or socialist candidates who I believe should be on everyone’s radar. This list is in no way exhaustive, and this movement is expanding, but this is who I’ve been seeing.

Josh Elliott (CT governor)

Claire Valdez for NY-7

Abdul El Sayed for Michigan Senate.

Saikat Chakrabarti for CA-11

Darialaza Avila-Chevalier for NY-13

Brad Lander for NY-10

Graham Platner for Maine Senate

Chris Rabb for PA-3

Oliver Larkin for FL-23 (this might change due to redistricting)

James Talarico for Texas Senate

Donovan McKinney for MI-13

There are certainly a few more, so if you think anyone should be on this list but isn’t, leave a comment!
